Chase's first sensory bottle

Since getting De-Quervain's tenosynovitis more than a month ago I've been unable to do any crafts without feeling pain in my right  thumb and wrist. I decided to do something that  involves no use of my right thumb.  I made Chase his sensory water bottle.

He got so excited the first time he saw it. He started kicking his legs and flaring out his arms. His eyes widen. And his mouth opened. Not. Food. Young Man.

I used a Voss plastic bottle. They have glass and plastic water bottle. (Not promoting Voss water. Just happened to be what I had on hand and does not leak). You can use almost any other kind of plastic bottles. If you want to make sure that it doesn't leak, just tape the cap tight.

I grabbed anything I had lying around the house and put them in the water bottle: mini Christmas ornaments (yes, they're still hanging around). I love the ornaments. They float on top of the water and Chase loves the bright colors.

I also put in miniature pom poms, a ribbon, and some buttons. The buttons sink to the bottom of the bottle, but when he's old enough to turn it upside down it makes noise. Right now I'm the one manipulating the bottle to get his attention.

Fill up your bottle with water. Mine was 80% full cause I want the ornaments to float on top of the water like picture above.

Can't wait to do some more sensory bottles. You can make varieties: cars, dinosaurs, stars, spaceships, sailboats, etc.

Have fun making yours!

P.S.: Yes, i'm typing with both hands. Just not using the right thumb. Don't get me in trouble with my therapist!
